Summer is coming…
Summer is beginning…

Spring is ending…
Meteorologists said we were going to have sunny days, mild temperatures, lawn to mow and flowers everywhere…

While walking in the aisles of professional fairs and exhibitions, our mood was getting better, the clients’ requests were numerous, demands were showing up, DMCs were optimistic and hotel managers gave a reassuring speech…

A ‘little’ volcano barely disturbed this wave of optimism.

It was cold…
It also rained!

We have demands, but we all have the same…
Order books are filling up but not as fast as we hoped…

However, we still have faith!
The first summer days will bring us heat for sure and our balance sheet is going to be very sunny…

I swear it to you, 2010 will be better than 2009! It might not be as good as 2008 but we will soon come back to a normal activity…

Yes, that’s for sure…well, if companies organizing conferences and incentives decide to have more “deontological” methods and if the unbridled competition between only 7 or 8 different agencies (or even more) do not lead anymore to consult with only 25 to 30 DMCs worldwide. Indeed, as far as MICE professionals are concerned, the most optimistic ones are demotivated, the most creative ones become fossilized and the most enterprising ones feel castrated.

Is it still worth to give one’s best for an excellent project, to work for hours on a client’s request, to hammer away on negotiation when it is sure that almost all the competitors in the MICE sector are already “on it” too?

And let’s not talk about money policy…what is at stake in a successful convention is too often belittled to the price of pre-dinner drink or of a transfer.
Is this the real selection criterion of a MICE service provider?

Too much competition destroys competition…
And, eventually, is not the client  the one paying for all that?

But summer will very soon be here…and hope too!
